You'll find me in da club...

New screenshot of the inside of the club. Textures may or may not be placeholders.

Still working on this project!

Cleavage O' Clock!

The Shakedown Club is situated on the outskirts of the lower city slums on Nar Shaddaa. It is a warehouse run by smugglers, but a part of it was rebuilt to house a club that also serves as a hangout for Jedi who want to train their skills with a lightsaber.

A relatively simple project to help me get back into JK editing, with a longer-term goal of finishing some of my more complex abandoned projects from back in the day.

It's basically an attempt to create an alternative for the hugely popular 'Valley of the Jedi Tower' level. The reason this level was so popular with Saber Battle X, is because it's a big duelling platform in the middle of a huge open space, which makes it ideal for Full Force duels with a lot of Force Push-ing.

I always thought 'Tower' was a bit ugly, so I'm relocating the duelling platform to my favourite place: Nar Shaddaa.

Players will be able to view the duels from the club, which will feature a great view on the duelling area as well as numerous action camera consoles.

There will be at least one other duelling area for bridge duels and that sort of thing. I'm keeping it under wraps for now, because I don't want to promise too much.

Trying to keep it simple and real for now. ;)

Cameras! - Beta 4 available for download

I cleared out the bugs from Beta 3, and decided to make the final version of the level. However, both Massassi and the Hub were down due to server problems, so I decided to add a camerasystem to the level. The spawning area now features camerascreens that enable the player to quickly check out all the arenas and see where the action is at. Use the strafe hotkeys to cycle through all the cameras. These 'overview cameras' are the viewscreens with the rotating ORJ logo. In addition to these, all the observatories now feature 'action camera consoles' that enable you to check out the action inside the arenas close-up and from several angles. These are the standing consoles that can be found in the observatories. In the chase arena, these consoles can be found on top of the wooden ramps/stands.

Thanks to ZeqMacaw, 'The Enabler', for the camera cog! =D

Nab it from the downloads section, folks. If nothing comes up with this Beta, I'll make it the final version and submit it to Massassi. ;)

Redesigning...

I am in the process of redesigning the entire level on paper, before starting on a complete overhaul of the design in Jed.

Although I loved some aspects of the current design, I ended up wishing for more features. And to incorporate those, it would be easier to start all over again. Adjusting the design as it is, is going to cost a lot more effort, especially since I'm starting to encounter framerate problems that I think I can avoid in a much smarter way by redesigning.

So hang in there... it might be a while before I'll post some screenies of the new version, but... I hope the end result will be much nicer.

A boxy place full of boxy stuff!

"Move along... nothing for you here."

Alpha phase... Still cleaving out all the archi and placing 3do's. Texturing is nowhere near finished and I won't do any lighting untill everything else is done. Don't worry about the boxiness. My expectation is that it will look really good with the lighting. As usual, I'm planning on dark and moody, with bright contrasts. I'm aiming for something that will breathe the classic Dark Forces atmosphere, hence my choice to use a lot of original JK textures. I still need to add a lot of gameplay elements such as more moving cargo and some flying platforms, but I'll need some help with tuning and syncing the cogs.

I'm not going to be able to spend a lot of time on this project anytime soon, but I am determined to finish it within a couple of months.

Bleh, here then! =P

Ok, first actual Hub project. Zeq sort of made me feel like I should do this. =P Although it is still a beta, I must admit that it's almost done. There are still some minor things in this version, stitching errors, a visible adjoin, some wrong floor sounds. So please download the beta, have a go at it, and let me know what you think in the forum. (The Beta 3 is currently also hosted in the SBX game of NarShaddaa.Net's dedicated server - IP redirect: jk.servegame.com) Keep in mind that my primary goal for this level is gameplay, and atmosphere. Use of SBX 3.1 seriously recommended. Features Lucky_Jackpot's ForceField cog, and JediKirby's Bowl. Thanks guys. =)
