
Multiplayer Hands |
If you're anything like me (and if you aren't, you should be!), then ever since 1997 you've been frustrated by the eyesore of Kyle's right hand inappropriately slapped on all multiplayer characters. And yet you don't want to use Jedi Knight Enhanced because of the nostalgia, a weird sense of minimalism, and/or strong moral issues with certain design choices that went into JKE (no long gloves on the commando? really?!).
So finally, after 15 years, I have taken an hour or two of every day for the past two or three days to address this travesty. I thought I rembered seeing something like this uploaded before, but I couldn't find it. Unfortunately I couldn't get ZED working with Wine and I wasn't even about to try very hard, so instead I painstakingly labored with a text editor to right what was wrong. Now you owe me - big time!
Here is a complete list of what is changed by this mod:
* The Kyle-hand is removed from weapon 3dos. Multiplayer character 3dos have their respective right hands added, using meshes and mats appropriate for their model.
* The Veamon, Mandalor and DarkRahn characters have all had their Kyle-hands replaced with gloves. I don't know who thought it was okay to leave white guy hands on a black guy.
* The Tusken character's forearms had the wrong mat at the lowest LOD, so I fixed this.
Also included is Matthew Surman's stormtrooper rifle model from his Dark Forces: Rebel Agent singleplayer level, edited for the hand fix. This is included separately as an optional module to be installed in addition to the main mphand.gob (or .goo).
